St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Retford

September 2018

The increases in confidence we saw from teaching staff and parents were phenomenal in our first visit to St Joseph’s in Retford.

Parent feedback

“Friendly and approachable deliverers. Good presentation and visuals to accompany the talk. I feel confident and happy for my children to be a part of these sessions.” Sarah Gibson, child in Year 5.

Although I think it’s sad that these things need to be introduced so early, I know it is necessary. I have actually discussed all the things included with my year 5 daughter so I think it will be an excellent way to reinforce that these topics are not to be hidden away.” Fleur Hawley, child in Year 5.

Really interesting session, feeling more confidence in supporting my daughters learning in this area.” Lisa Thidale, child in reception.

Key Facts

  • +53% increase in parents’ confidence, now 78%.
  • +60% increase in staff confidence, now 91%.

Staff feedback

“A really clear and reassuring presentation for the girls. It was interesting to see they thought average age for losing virginity was anywhere between 18-30. Your explanation of being in a loving, trusting relationship and being prepared is a great lesson.” Mrs Donoghue, Year 6 teacher.

Excellent session, covered a lot of areas which were relevant to the age group. Excellent visuals, the children engaged and interactted with the BigTalk team well.” Mrs Hawley, Year 1 teacher.
